What's All This About Fairies and Pirates?

Once upon a time, there was this crazy mom of 6 who'd wanted to be a writer since kindergarten. Seriously. But then she grew up and made a bunch of stupid mistakes, and didn't get to go to college until after her kids were older. She finally got serious about writing her first book when her youngest was a baby. (Try balancing a laptop and a nursing baby at the same time! Now that's talent without an English degree.)

She grew out of her 80's goth phase and tried normality for a while, which got boring real quick. Then she saw Pirates of the Caribbean and developed a new obsession: pirates with everything. And pirates go pretty well with steampunk, another quirky thing she'd always had a taste for, even before she knew it had a name.

And she never grew out of loving young adult fantasy, so her first two books are part of the Moongate series, a fairy tale of sorts with a little bit of romance and a lot more adventure. Her current work in progress is a young adult dark steampunk fantasy, with pirates and monsters.

There is no the end or happily ever after with this story. There are always new tales to explore and develop, new characters to fall in love with, new doors that keep opening to let in something more wonderful than the last.

Fairies and pirates are only the beginning.
